Mrs. Thomas E. Powell died Monday of cancer, at the family home one mile north of New Ross. The funeral occurred Tuesday. Mrs. Powell was about fifty years of age and leaves a husband. - thank you to Kim H

Mrs. Thomas Powell departed this life Tuesday evening. She had been suffering from cancer for some time. A few months ago she underwent an operation for the removal of the cancer, but the result was not successful. She had been a member of the Christian Church for several years and at the time of her death was about 55 years of age. The funeral was conducted at the Christian Church at 3 p.m. Wednesday by Rev. L. E. Murray. Interment was at Pisgah.
